Description
Stock Number: VTG1092.

This is a rare opportunity to get hold of one of Chris's early pieces & as such must command a serious resale price. It plays and sounds exceptionally well, with a low action and fabulous tone.

TIMBERS:
Quote from an email some time ago from Colin Keefe, the highly respected luthier I work with, who has painstakingly completed the neck and body restoration, and refinishing of this exceptional guitar for me.....

"The top of the Eccleshall is European Spruce and I think the back and sides are either Black Walnut or Sonokeling which is an Indonesian Rosewood quite often plantation grown so it has lighter density and colour."

Now that is completed and I have collected the guitar from Colin's on my latest workshop visit with him in County Durham, we are satisfied that the back and sides, which are truly spectacular are indeed Sonorkeling....

Botanical name: Dalbergia....Sonokeling is the same tree as Indian rosewood but differs, presumably because it is plantation grown, in having a broader colour range and being a little less hard and heavy.

CONSTRUCTION:
Solid European Spruce Top, matching multi-ply soundhole ring and bindings, Laminated Sonorkeling Rosewood Back & Sides, matching bindings.
Neck: Mahogany, with Adjustable Truss Rod (soundhole end adjuster), Rosewood Fingerboard, 12" Radius & 7 Inlay Dot position markers, Black Binding, with position marker White Dots, Classic Maccaferri Shaped Open Style Rosewood Faced Headstock, Original Bone Nut, inset with Zero Fret, 14 Frets to the Body, 21 Frets in all.
Nut width: 44.5mm/1.75". String Spacing @ Nut: 36.5mm./1.45". String Spacing @ 12th. Fret: 47.5mm./1.87".
Scale Length: 670mm.....for other dimensions see headed section opposite.
Bridge: Original Ebony floating & intonated, with matching original "wings".
Tailpiece: Gold finish, with green felt, stamped "DB", appears to be original. Does not appear to ever have carried the frequently seen Ebony insert, so have left it as original, but inserts are available online and could be added if desired.
Tuning Machines: Original, with Gold finish, enclosed design with Cream Buttons...similar to Kluson Deluxe, but not name stamped.
Case: Black traditional type Hard Case, with blue lining.
Condition
This very rare and exceptional guitar has been in my store awaiting restoration for quite some time. The work has been in progress for over a year now, for much of that time at the workshop of leading luthier, Colin Keefe, up in County Durham, who I have worked with for many years. Colin has completed a superb restoration of the body, which had been over-finished and with earlier localised repairs undertaken badly.

The entire guitar has been taken back to the really outstanding timbers, the inappropriate previous repairs rectified, so as to now be barely visible....you have to know where to look to find them....and beautifully refinished.

Following it's return here, I have re-installed the cleaned fittings, strung up and set-up the guitar.

Summery of Restoration Notes:
Complete Body Restoration and Refinish, by top-class Luthier, Colin Keefe.
Stoning/Levelling/Re-Profiling of original frets, plus new Zero Fret and overhaul/cleaning/oiling of fingerboard.

Case: Black covered solid hard case as mentioned.
