*** 08/10/2024 - This guitar now sold to longstanding VTG customer.

Restoration through the latter part of 2022, completed at the beginning of 2023, included partial rebuild by Colin Keefe, one of this country's foremost luthiers and guitar builders.
Photos have been re-taken and are current, although the guitar remains in the same condition now as when newly completed, having for the last 12 months or so been in the very careful hands of the professional guitarist and teacher, long time customer and expert on Petersen guitars, as an interim instrument, pending completion of restoration work on his Petersen model C Concert Guitar.

This is one of Harald Petersen's higher quality model Concert Classical Guitars, made & signed by Harald Petersen himself in 1960s.....the inside label has been slightly damaged in the past, but I believe that I can still see, with the aid of torchlight the remains of a 1966 date.
Originally thought to be an example of Harald Petersen's upper quality Model B, but after recent comparison with the owner's own Model C instrument....the top model of Harald Petersen's range...with which it shares the quality Rosewood back and sides, plus detailing, it is thought that in all possibility this may also be a Model C...but without model confirmation on the label, we would not wish to make any questionable claims.
Stock Number: VTG1565.
The dimensions appear to be quite traditional, with 650mm./25.6" scale and full width fingerboard, 52mm./2" at the nut, on a reasonably shallow, slightly "D" profile neck, as detailed under "Dimensions" heading opposite.
The high quality of the construction detailing should be apparent in the photos, with handsome black-edged 5-ply to the top & triple binding to the back, both with side inlay stripes, to match back centre stripe, end stripe, intricate inlayed soundhole Rosette, stripe inlays to the Rosewood bridge. The top is Spruce, and the back and sides Rosewood, both very nicely grained and book-matched.
The guitar is clearly all original, and cosmetic condition is generally good, but some minor marks, but French Polish finish to back & sides has been expertly restored by the professional luthier I work with, following structural restoration, involving taking the body back off, re-fixing & re-binding. - what remains is really minor markings for a vintage guitar.
The machine heads are the quality engraved units originally fitted and working well, set on beautiful Rosewood faced headstock.
Brief details of full professional restoration/partial re-build which was completed follow.....
The luthier was able to remove the back, with great care, damage free. One ill-fitting vertical side reinforcement had been previously fitted to re-glued side crack, but was too long, over-lapping the lining, so ineffective, therefore removed. It was adjusted and re-fitted, and a number of others made and fitted at points all around the sides, which will entirely stabilise them. Following that, pre-thicknessed pieces of Rosewood, were used to make a number of further reinforcement plates/cleats for the crack lines in the back and glued.
Having taken off the back, I re-glued a number of the brace ends which were lifting a little, so both top & back braces are now secure. I made Spruce reinforcing plates/cleats to fit where 3 cracks in the top had previously been glue repaired but not reinforced, glued those in place....belt & braces precaution only really. Also added "plate" between the double brace and non-standard neck block, will provide strength where the original construction omitted the Spanish heal....I believe that I do still have some photos of these operations, if needed.
The Ebony fingerboard was re-levelled and re-fretted, original bone nut re-fitted, and new bone saddle purpose-made and fitted. The bridge appears to have been previously reset, and after use by the professional guitarist owner for over 12 months is clearly secure. The work was carried out both in my own workshop, and the luthier's workshop, all under the supervision of the highly respected professional classical guitar builder & luthier I work with.
The action at the 12th. fret is around 3mm./3.5mm.
I'm not sure of the make of strings but the professional guitarist and teacher who has had the guitar for the last year or so will have fitted his choice of quality Classical strings.
There is very substantial period case included, not original to the guitar, but in a distinctive green colour. Alternatively I may be able to supply a Hiscox Liteflite or PRO11 case at modest additional cost, if required.
