POA
Intro
SOS Vintage Guitars & Guards make custom pickguards, with or without pickups, for most vintage archtop, flat top and solid body guitars (except Strats and Teles). Electrify your guitar without drilling or cutting into the instrument for great sound at a low price. They also make new P90 pickups which will supercharge your sound without any modifications to the instrument; they use Neodymium magnets and alnicos for better response and tone.
Description
The SOS Vintage range of custom archtop pickguards includes faithful reproductions for many of the vintage Harmony, Kay, Gibson and similar USA-made guitars, either as the plain 'guard as a replacement, or with pickups and tone controls on the guard.
Jack is placed underneath the guard for easy access and no mods to the guitar.

SOS Vintage also make piezo systems for archtop guitars that don't require any preamps and mount inside the guitar under the top for maximum tone response and volume. These are custom made and use a special tone circuit that works like an electric guitar with treble cut or normal open tone. This allows you to cut the treble down if you use round wound strings for less scratch.

Requirements for pickup clearance and placement preference:

1. Fret or Capo down strings at 12th fret and measure clearance between top and bottom of strings on both sides (low and high E).

2. Minimum clearance is 9/16" with 5/8" or better as optimum clearance so that strings will ring properly.

3. Measure from top of body on treble side down to the end of the fingerboard and write down the distance. Usually it is about 3-1/4" to 3-3/8" on Harmony 1213 or similar guitars. I can place the cutout there but 4" is a safe place to put the pickup because it will work for all guitars of this type and still give jazz and blues players the best tone response (more mid and bass ).

4. Guard is usually placed about 1/8 inch from the top of the body but sometimes is placed even with the top of the body.

5. Distance between top of body and bridge is important because if the guard is set too high up, we believe that it can look awkward and seem to be too short.
