The Gretsch G9220 Bobtail Round-Neck Electro-Acoustic Resonator Guitar with Fishman Nashville pickup and other premium appointments, including Ampli-Sonic Diaphragm, beautiful two-tone sunburst finish and aged pearl headstock face, it looks as good as it sounds.
What is more being an electro-acoustic guitar, you can plug it in and get that great Gretsch sound live and loud on stage.
Mahogany Body with Ampli-Sonic Resonator
Gretsch’s G9220 Bobtail has a Mahogany body that houses an Ampli-Sonic cone resonator.
While normally a solid top is preferred for traditional acoustic guitars, when it comes to making a great resonator guitar, all the iconic makers have used laminate tops, providing a sturdy base to hold the resonator and allows it to work its magic.
The Ampli-Sonic cone resonator is hand spun in Eastern Europe from 99% pure aluminium.....the resulting sound is that classic, sharp tone of a single-cone resonator.
Vintage Style Neck
The Bobtail’s Mahogany neck with its medium V-shape profile, so reminiscent of the 1930s guitars I specialise in, along with its period-style 1930s headstock, old style Gretsch logo & aged pearloid face is nicely playable, giving it a soft and comfortable playing grip....and looks great!
Padauk fretboard which is very similar to traditional Rosewood in looks and playing feel, but more sustainably sourced.
19 frets in all......traditional/period 12 to the body, while simple dot inlays & comfortable 25" scale length.
Quality Hardware and Electronics
Ornately cut out cover plate with a beautiful nickel poinsettia design, Fishman Nashville spider bridge, the Ampli-Sonic resonator & twin f-holes have classic looks, while aiding in sound projection.
The 1930s inspired headstock has Grover Sta-Tite tuning machines, providing precise secure tuning, plus bone nut for natural sound and sustain.
Plugged in the Fishman Nashville resonator pickup captures the distinct tone characteristics of a resonator guitar.
With authentic vintage features, the Bobtail is the perfect instrument for any fan of vintage character guitars.
Newly arrived and immediately available, following minor overhaul, set-up & re-stringing. Excellent condition.....very little sign of any noticeable marking on body finish. New strings fitted, after minor overhaul & set-up, including light stoning, re-profiling & polishing previously slightly uneven frets, so no sign of fret wear, fret ends dressed....previously a little rough/sharp in places, fingerboard cleaned....no visible play wear, trussrod checked & slightly adjusted.
Set-up completed to give good action, approx. 2.5mm/3mm. at the 12th. fret, correct required slight fingerboard relief, and strings very slightly higher than essential at the nut to aid Bottleneck play.
Martin MM12 Retro® Monel Acoustic strings 12-54 fitted.
"Retro® - Retros are the original Nickel acoustic string all the way from the 1930s. Retro strings offer a uniquely mellow, yet crisp sound that allows your guitar’s natural tonewoods to be heard. They are crafted with Monel, a solid nickel/copper wrap wire - not nickel-plated - meaning there is no chance for defects in the plating to allow for corrosion. Martin’s proprietary wrap wire is naturally corrosion resistant and it is incredibly strong. We also employ a sophisticated winding process that controls the coupling between the core and wrap wire to maximize intonation."
Gretsch® G2180 Resonator Gig Bag is included.
