-----------------------------------------------------------------

I sold this guitar, on behalf of the original owner, complete with original purchase receipt from new, to long-standing customer who has bought a Petersen Guitars from me previously. He is a professional guitarist, teacher and composer, currently about to publish a booklet on Harald Petersen, in which this guitar will feature.

The guitar remains in the possession of the owner at the present time, but it is anticipated that he will be able to deliver it here in the near future. It may be possible to arrange an inspection with him prior to that.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

I have sold quite a number of Petersen guitars of quite a few years now, both original Harald Petersen made examples, as well as the high quality Concert Classical Guitars made by Peter & Tom Petersen, who continued the iconic Petersen guitar production after the death of their father in 1969, until about 1984.

This is the higher quality "B" model Concert Classical Guitar, made & signed by Harald Petersen himself in 1966, which I am advised by some Petersen owners is the Petersen model they prefer, rather than the top-of-the-line "C" model.
Description
Stock Number: VTGC1044.

Firstly the email I received from the owner today...........

"Hello Bob,

Thank you for your email. It is rather timely because I will now let my pristine Harald Petersen model B go. I have finished my initial article on Petersen guitars. This will appear in the guitar teachers newsletter in a couple of weeks time. I will save you a copy. I had photographed the guitar and it will appear in a later separate issue of the article.

The guitar is in simply perfect condition as you know. Even the original case is immaculate. I have kept the original receipt. One thing that I might add is that it is perfectly set up and sounds lovely with a deep bass and generally a mature sound that can only come with age. I have hardly played and have kept it safely ever since I bought it from you. Needless to say it will improve further with playing. On sale I will include the article and some nice photographs. For anyone interested in Petersens it is a rare opportunity.

Best wishes
Tony

Harald Petersen moved to England from Denmark, and became a highly respected Classical Guitar Maker, based in Cumbria, but famously associated with, and selling many of his guitars through the Spanish Guitar Centre, established by Len Williams, father of John Williams, in 1952. After his death in 1969, his two sons continued making the same pattern of Petersen Concert Classical Guitar models, until I believe about 1984.

I have owned and sold previously a good number of Petersens. I know a number of good players who have collected Petersen Guitars and, from discussion with them, it is clear that they have a strong appreciation for their qualities, and that of the the three standard models, in ascending order of quality, A, B & C, some owners have suggested to me that their preferred option is the model B..

The dimensions appear to be quite traditional, with 652mm./25.75" scale and full width fingerboard, 52mm./2" at the nut, on a reasonably shallow, slightly "D" profile neck. The high quality of the construction detailing should be apparent in the photos, with handsome black-edged 5-ply to the top & triple binding to the back, both with side inlay stripes, to match back centre stripe, end stripe, intricate inlayed soundhole Rosette, stripe inlays to the Rosewood bridge. The top is Spruce, and the back and sides Rosewood, both very nicely grained and book-matched.
Condition
The guitar is clearly all original, but really does not look 52 years old! The condition is just remarkable, beautiful finish, with only very few minor marks, and limited areas where the finish has dulled slightly over the years - but all in all, really minor markings for a vintage guitar, and really very, very smart.

The machine heads are the quality engraved units originally fitted and working well, set on beautiful Rosewood faced headstock. Playing-wise, there is only very slight visible wear to the frets and the fingerboard.
Action, strings & cases
The action at the 12th. fret is spot-on at 3.5mm./4mm., and the guitar plays very nicely indeed. The strings are old & in need of replacement. The buyer's option to take it as it is & fit th strings of their choice, or prior I can re-string, probably with quality USA made La Bella 850-B Classical strings, with Golden Alloy Basses and Black Nylon Trebles.

The original hard case is included, in very good condition.
